Introduction

Fondest Queen's Memory: Kim was active in student government as a two term member of Outer Council, ASUS Council as Judiciary chair, and a writer on the Queen’s Journal. Kim has plenty of Queen’s family history with a grandfather (Art’s ’17), uncle, brother and niece.

About Kim: A long time executive of multiple Silicon Valley companies. For nearly 5 years he was an executive with Uber Technologies, having resigned in December, 2019 as the Global Head of Product Partnerships and Business Development for US & Canada. His organization negotiated over 200 partnerships with major technology companies, airports & brands including Google, Apple, Amazon, MLSE (Raptors, Maple Leafs), Live Nation, Golden State Warriors, ASU, Walmart, SFO, Toronto Pearson, Barclay’s, Visa, Exxon, Rakuten etc.

Kim had previously been CEO of deCarta, the leading independent location-based services software platform company before he orchestrated its sale to Uber in March, 2015. Prior to deCarta, he held CEO positions at Pinnacle Systems and StorageWay Inc. He was an early executive at Octel, the global leader of voice messaging systems. He first opened Octel in Canada in 1986, then moved to the UK for 6 years to open and lead EMEA before managing all International. He was then a corporate Vice President at Lucent Technologies following its acquisition of Octel in 1997, leading a 3,000 person $2B Business Unit. Much earlier he was National Marketing Manager, Canada with ROLM, an iconic Silicon Valley company in the 80s, acquired by IBM.

He is a Board Director of three companies: Ritchie Brothers of Burnaby B.C., a public company on the TSX and NYSE; as well as two private startups in Cape Town and Dallas. And, for 8 years he’s been a Board Director of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation, a non-profit 501(3) (c) that provides health, food, and shelter to those needing help in the Valley.
