Their Excellencies, the Right Hon. Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada and Mr. Jean-Daniel Lafond with Mr. Ian Vorres, President of the Vorres Museum right after the ceremony in which he was invested with the Order of Canada. (October 28, 2009)

The Canadian flag and Greek flag flying next to each other

Photo of the museum's two newly installed flagpoles with the Canadian and Greek flags flying side by side over the rooftops with historic Mt. Hymettus in the background. It is the first time in the museum's 30 year old history that a foreign flag is being displayed. The Canadian flag flew throughout the Governor General's 3-day state visit to Greece. By decision also of the museum's board, Canada's maple leaf will henceforth be hoisted yearly in celebration of Canada Day indicating not only the close ties of Canada and Greece but also the fact that the museum's creator is a Canadian citizen.
