The Department of Classics and Archaeology at Queen’s University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates interested in teaching courses in CLST 304 – Archaeology of the Classical World and Hellenistic Period, an in-person teaching course with an expected enrolment of 50 students; and CLST 355 - The Hellenistic Successor Kingdoms to the Death of Cleopatra, an in-person teaching course with an expected enrolment of 40 students. Candidates should have a Ph.D. and teaching experience at the University level in Classics. This is a term appointment for the period September 1st, 2025, to April 30th, 2026, with classes in session from September 2nd, 2025 to April 6th, 2025.

Course Description:
CLST 304 Archaeology of the Classical World and Hellenistic Period Units: 3.00 (Winter)
Intensive study of the achievements in architecture, painting and sculpture, and town planning from 480 B.C. to 31 B.C.
Learning Hours: 126 (36 Lecture, 90 Private Study)
Requirements: Prerequisite (CLST 102/3.0 and CLST 103/3.0) or CLST 129/6.0 or CLST 130/3.0 or CLST 131/3.0 or CLST 200/3.0 or permission of the Department.
CLST 335 The Hellenistic Successor Kingdoms to the Death of Cleopatra - Units: 3.00 (Fall Term)
Study of the Successor Kingdoms (Antigonids, Ptolomies, and Seleucids) during the period from the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BCE until the end of the Ptolemaic Dynasty in Egypt with the Death of Cleopatra in 30 BCE. Topics may include the role of Greece in the new Mediterranean order, structures of Hellenistic kingdoms, Romans in the East.

Requirements: Prerequisite CLST 200 or permission of the Department. Exclusion CLST 331.
